Last updated: February 2026
Introduction
CyberScore is a free cybersecurity assessment tool operated by CyberSecurity NonProfit (CSNP), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CyberScore service. By accessing or using CyberScore, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Service Description
CyberScore provides cybersecurity assessments including personal email breach checks, business domain security analysis (DNS, TLS, and email security configuration), employee email breach exposure monitoring, and actionable security recommendations. The service is provided free of charge as part of CSNP's mission to advance cybersecurity through education and open-source tools.
Personal scan data is subject to automatic deletion after 6 months as part of our data minimization practices. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Account Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of data you submit to the service, including email addresses and domain names.
- You must only submit email addresses and domains that you are authorized to scan. For business domain scans, you must be an authorized representative of the organization that owns the domain.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use CyberScore for any of the following:
- Submitting data you are not authorized to scan, including email addresses or domains belonging to others without their consent.
- Automated bulk scanning, scraping, or data extraction from the service.
- Attempting to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or other security measures.
- Using the service to harass, threaten, or harm others.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the source code of the service.
- Any activity that violates applicable law or regulation.
CSNP reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
Disclaimer of Warranties
CyberScore is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
- Scan results are informational only and do not constitute a professional security audit, penetration test, or compliance assessment.
- CSNP does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of breach data or security scan results.
- A passing score does not mean your systems are secure, and a failing score does not mean your systems have been compromised.
- CyberScore should not be used as the sole basis for security decisions. We recommend consulting qualified cybersecurity professionals for comprehensive assessments.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CSNP and its volunteers, officers, directors, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of CyberScore. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities, even if CSNP has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Service Modifications and Availability
- CSNP reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue CyberScore at any time, with or without notice.
- We may update features, change scanning methodologies, or adjust scoring algorithms as security standards evolve.
- We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes but are not obligated to do so.
- Temporary service interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
Intellectual Property
The CyberScore name, logo, and service are the property of CSNP. Your scan results and data remain your own. By using the service, you grant CSNP a limited right to use anonymized, aggregated data derived from scans for impact reporting and service improvement purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms
CSNP may revise these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of CyberScore after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
